Here we go!

Okay, here we go…I’m jumping into the blogosphere. I had debated doing this a while back, but after some deliberation, this verse came to my head:

Proverbs 10:19

When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent.

The skinny of this verse is “when you talk a lot, you’re more likely to say something that would be sinful; sometimes you’re best if you keep your mouth shut.”

Now, I realize that writing and talking are not quite the same, but I think the principle still applies. So I originally decided that instead starting a blog and winding up writing some things I’d been best not to have written, I’d just stay out of it altogether.

Recently I read a very thought provoking post by Abraham Piper over at the Desiring God Ministries Blog titled “6 Reasons Pastors Should Blog”. After some reflection I realized that some very good things could come from blogging. And my blogging should be no different than my conversation…

Ephesians 4:29

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

To be quite honest, if you were only going to read one blog a day, there are many others I would recommend long before mine. But hopefully, for some of you, the future posts to this site will be thought-provoking, challenging and beneficial for both your life and faith.

Have a great Lord’s Day tomorrow.
